The general aim of the International Association for Official Statistics (IAOS) is to promote the understanding and advancement of official statistics and related subjects, and to foster the development of effective and efficient official statistical services through international contacts among individuals and organisations, including users of official statistics as well as research institutes.
IAOS through its various initiatives is working with stakeholders to promote the understanding and advancement of official statistics, as we all transition to the new landscape, where the official statistics operates. IAOS brings together producers and users of official statistics. 2022 brought the IAOS community together in Krakow for our first face-to-face conference since the pandemic, under the theme of “Worthy Information for Challenging Times”. While the IAOS is nearly 50 years old, it continues to transform. The Krakow conference saw the launch of the Krakow Group, which will deal with the Use and Misuse of Statistics. Activities such as the Young Statisticians Prize and Statistical Journal of the IAOS (SJIAOS), both strongly supported across developing and developed countries, continue to showcase new and emerging issues relevant to our community.
