Some of these groups are of relevance across all of the ISI and its Associations. Other SIGs link particular interests across the ISI and its Associations, or link with other disciplines and/or professional interests and/or bodies and/or current developments.

Young Statisticians Committee
In year 2022, the Young Statisticians Committee focused on collaboration and expanding connection with other young statisticians communities, including the Young Statisticians of Statistics Netherlands, communicating with the Young Statisticians of Royal Statistical Society and general assemblies.
The Young Statisticians Committee and Young Statisticians of Statistics Netherlands are working together on organizing a two-day Young Statisticians workshop on use of Python and R for Causal Inference in June 2023.
The Young Statisticians Committee and Young Statisticians of Statistics Netherlands are working together on organizing a two-day Young Statisticians workshop on use of Python and R for Causal Inference in June 2023.
The aim of this event is to provide additional skills to Young Statisticians that they may use for future research projects and paper presentations to conferences. It also aims to encourage the participants to submit their output to the upcoming World Statistics Congress 2023 as a contributed paper session. Part of the goal is also to provide a venue for social and professional networking which will be conducted online.

SIG on Sports Statistics
The special interest group on sport statistics wants to promote the understanding, development and good practice of sports statistics worldwide, with particular focus on methodological problems involved and the in-field application of methods and models, from three different perspectives: scientific research, statistical capacity building and education at different levels.

6th AUEB Sports Analytics Workshop (AUEB SAW2022)
The workshop was hosted in a hybrid form (virtual and live) AUEB, Athens (Greece) on 26 - 27 May 2022.
The workshop was also accompanied by a short course on Basketball Data Science (23-24 May 2022). The short course was held in hybrid form with a limited number of places available at the facilities of AUEB.

Women in Statistics
Following its vision to empower and support women in statistical roles across the world, spanning professions within academia, government, private sector, civil society, and international organizations, in 2022 the ISI Committee on Women in Statistics (CW-ISI) established the CW-ISI Online Webinar Series, to be promoted by social media. Digital technologies and social networks enable a variety of opportunities to promote women statisticians, increase the number of Committee on Women in Statistics
Country Representatives, and women’s membership in the ISI, and, as well. Knowing eminent or other women statisticians from statistical journals or meetings, like ISI World Statistics Congresses, ISI Associations’ meetings, or others, might be only strengthened by a series of virtual meetings during the year, and we in the Committee on Women in Statistics is proud to offer such networking opportunities to experienced and young women statisticians around the globe.

The Committee on Women in Statistics recruited new Management Committee members and as
several new country representatives from Albania and Serbia.

The Committee on Women Chair had discussed ideas in a meeting with the ISI Capacity Building Committee Chair.
They have collaborated to come up with potential plans. This is line with the mentoring which was proposed for the Committee on Women in Statistics, as listed in the Strategic Priorities 2022 - 2025.

Astrostatistics Special Interest Group
The main goal of the Astrostatistics SIG in the ISI, is to foster collaboration between members of the statistical and astronomical communities. It also seeks to support existing astrostatistical organisations and endeavors, and will serve as a locus for the dissemination of information regarding astrostatistical education programs, collaborations, conferences and websites.

History
An Astrostatistics interest group was first formed by Joseph Hilbe in 2008. At the winter ISI Executive Committee board meeting in December of 2009, it became an ISI standing committee, and shortly thereafter was renamed the ISI Astrostatistics Network.
In 2012 the Network voted to become an independent global scientific association for astrostatistics and astroinformatics called the International Astrostatistics Association (IAA). Under Joseph Hilbe’s leadership, membership of IAA grew to 600, representing 45 countries on 6 continents.
At the 61st ISI World Statistics Congress, in July 2017 in Marrakech (Morocco), the ISI President-Elect and the Interim President of IAA discussed the future of astrostatistics within the ISI. Emergence of a new organisational structure of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) within the ISI, specifically to link statistics with other disciplines, would be helpful. The Astrostatistics SIG within ISI was thus reactivated.
